Camp Lumos: A different kind of first week

On Monday morning, two teachers took the children on an adventure around the neighbourhood. While they were out, the rest of the team got to work.

By the time they returned, their new school had become a wilderness campsite, complete with tents, sleeping bags and hammocks.

Welcome to Camp Lumos.

We wanted our first week to give children time to get to know one another and feel at home in their new school. Rather than jumping straight into normal lessons, we designed a week around building the community we would learn in together.

Throughout the week, students explored, tackled team challenges and discovered our six Learning Powers. These shared experiences gave them a chance to practise listening, working together and trying something new.

The week ended with our first Lumos sleepover. The tents were not just for decoration: students spent the night together at school.
